Why convert JPG to PNG
JPG loses a little quality every time it is saved. If you plan to edit and re-save an image many times, convert it to PNG first; PNG does not lose any further quality on each save.
Some design tools, print forms and app icon uploads accept PNG only. In those cases, changing the format is all you need.
Keep in mind that converting to PNG cannot restore detail already lost in the JPG, and it does not make the background transparent. The file is usually larger than the original.
How to convert JPG to PNG

Frequently asked questions
›What is a JPG file?
JPG (or JPEG) is the most widely used photo format. It uses lossy compression to keep files small and opens on virtually every device, app and website.
›Why convert JPG to PNG?
PNG is lossless, so the image will not lose any more quality when you edit and save it again. It is also supported by virtually every editor and design tool.
›Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser using your own device. Your images never leave your computer or phone.
›Why is the PNG file larger than the original?
PNG stores every pixel without loss, so a PNG made from a compressed photo is often several times larger. The image looks exactly like the source; converting cannot add back detail that was already lost, but it prevents any further loss.
›Is there a limit on the number of files?
There is no fixed limit. Very large batches use more memory, so on older phones converting in groups of about 50 works best.
